About Us

The Lake Cowichan Teachers' Association (LCTA) represents teachers working in schools throughout the Cowichan Lake area. Since 1996, following the provincial amalgamation of School District 65 (Cowichan Valley) and School District 66 (Lake Cowichan) into a single district (SD 79), the LCTA has worked in partnership with the Cowichan Valley Teachers' Union (CVTU) to represent educators across the region. For local bargaining matters, grievances, and the maintenance of seniority lists, these two sister locals collaborate under the umbrella of the Cowichan Valley Teachers' Federation (CVTF).

The LCTA recognizes that its members work, live, and play on the unceded territories of the Ts'uubaa-asatx, Quw'utsun, Malahat, Halalt, Penelakut, Stz'uminus, & Lyackson Peoples.
